Northern Biodiesel
Northern Biodiesel is a new and innovative energy company specializing in alternative fuels. Northern Biodiesel is the only local producer of biodiesel for Upstate New York. We are able to produce ASTM 6751 certified Biodiesel. Our facility has the capacity to blend biodiesel to any percentage with petroleum diesel. Northern Biodiesel can ship biodiesel anywhere worldwide. We can use a fuel trucking company of your choice or we have a set of select transporters. Local delivery is offered at competitive rates.


Biodiesel Blending
Biodiesel fuel is a direct substitute for petroleum diesel. Northern Biodiesel is able to produce ASTM 6751 certified Biodiesel. Our facility has the capacity to blend biodiesel to any percentage with petroleum diesel.

On Road Fuel: This fuel is available for all users and is subject to local, State and Federal taxes.

Off Road Fuel: This fuel is available for most construction vehicles, farm vehicles and other approved users.

Home Heating Oil: Biodiesel is also used for home heating oil and is most often used as a 100% blend.

Company Founders

Jason Masters- President

Mr. Masters has been a scientist and military officer for almost 13 years. He holds a Master’s of Science in Marine Chemistry and an MBA in Finance, Strategy and International Business. Mr. Masters was an green house gas scientist for the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). He held the position as a scientist and officer where he interacted with foreign dignitaries and scientists to grapple with the then initial questions of climate change. He changed directions when the research was continually pointing to a mandate to act now. Energy was the primary sector to focus his activities to effect change.

Mr. Masters became involved in biodiesel because it has the quickest potential to begin counteracting anthropogenic climate change. He is a national speaker on biodiesel and its effects and has been contracted by New York State (NYSERDA and NYS Ag & Markets) to develop the infrastructure required in New York State to bring biodiesel into the market.

Mr. Masters’ company, Northern Biodiesel, is located just east of Rochester, NY. The facility will become operational by June 2007 with a capacity to produce 7.5 million gallons per year. Through Mr. Masters’ integrated ecosystem based approach he has been continually pushing for local scale production utilizing local feedstocks to form an integrated renewable energy network. It is through small to medium scale renewable energy businesses that we create the strength of a diversified network that serves the regional needs through regional resources.


Bob Bechtold- Vice President of Technology

Bob Bechtold is the president of Harbec Plastics, Inc., a progressive injection molding company located in upstate New York, which provides a full service of model making, precision mold making, and complex precision plastic injection molding. His company believes strongly in the value of Eco-Economics and during the past decade he has developed and managed a cogeneration project, which is capable of providing the electricity, heat, and air-conditioning they require. Harbec is one of the first companies in the world to successfully implement a hybrid micro-turbine/wind powered cogeneration plant. Bob serves on the Board of Directors of Clean Air/Cool Planet and the Regional Advisory Board of HSBC.
